While this is not actually a cure for diabetes, by managing your diet you’re taking a big step to controlling it.
Keeping physically active helps you to control your blood glucose level by improving your body’s sensitivity to insulin. Regular activity helps to lower your blood glucose level and keep it better controlled in the long term. If you lake tablets or inject insulin, you need to be aware that physical activity can reduce your blood glucose level in a short time. You may need to alter your treatment accordingly.
You may need to take tablets to control your blood glucose level if you have Type 2 diabetes. Tablets work by increasing the amount of insulin you produce, by helping body cells to use insulin more effectively, or by slowing down carbohydrate digestion. Tablets are not a cure for diabetes, but like diet management, they will certainly help manage your diabetes. There are various types of insulin, all of which are active for different lengths of time: some act within 5 minutes and wear off within 4 hours; others keep working for 24 hours or longer.
